What Causes a Sinking Concrete Pool Deck?

You can most likely find the problems with your sinking pool deck in the soil surrounding your pool. When pools are first constructed, the space needs to be excavated to make room for the construction.

Once the main pool is in place, backfill soil is added around the outsides. This backfill soil isn’t as dense or as well-compacted as hard-packed earth that’s been undisturbed for extended periods of time.

When the concrete was poured for your deck, the contractors most likely poured it on loose backfill soil. The heavyweight of the concrete will force the earth to compress, pushing the ground down. As the soil compresses, the concrete sinks and settles with it.

Restore Your Pool Deck With PolyLevel®

With PolyLevel®, our foundation experts can bore small holes in the settled sections of your concrete and inject high-density polyurethane foam underneath. This foam quickly expands and lifts your concrete until it is level once again.
