GMX Ultra-Shield Installation

To make sure your property qualifies for the warranty, our Durham exterior waterproofing experts follow these GMX installation procedures:

Ensure dry, strong foundation walls and footings. We don’t apply Ultra-Shield in standing water, and we allow concrete or mortar to cure for 16 hours before applying.
Remove debris and excess mortar from foundation walls and footings. We repair cracks or honeycombed concrete with non-shrinking grout.
Fill minor voids with solvent-based asphalt mastic.
Spray apply Ultra-Shield at a rate of 20-25 sq. ft. per gallon. Apply more on unparged block surfaces. We don’t apply below 20°F, and heat to 120° to 160°F before application.
Touch up uncovered areas with a coat of Ultra-Shield. Brush out excess to a ⅛ inch thickness.
Within one to three hours, install a board for drainage, insulation, or protection and press firmly into place.
Install drain tile according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Grade backfill to direct surface water away from exterior foundation walls.
