GMX Ultra-Shield Installation

  • First, we ensure dry, strong foundation walls and footings, and we do not apply Ultra-Shield to standing water. We wait for the concrete or mortar to cure for 16 hours before applying.
  • Second, we remove debris and excess mortar from foundation walls and footings. We repair cracks or honeycombed concrete with non-shrinking grout.
  • Third, we fill minor voids with solvent-based asphalt mastic.
  • Fourth, we apply Ultra-Shield at a rate of 20-25 sq. ft. per gallon, applying more on unparged block surfaces. We do not apply below 20°F, and heat to 120°-160°F before application.
  • Fifth, we touch up uncovered areas with a coat of Ultra-Shield, brushing out excess to a ⅛ inch thickness.
  • Sixth, within one to three hours, we install a board for drainage, insulation, or protection and press it firmly into place.
  • Finally, we install drain tile according to the manufacturer’s specifications and grade backfill to direct surface water away from exterior foundation walls
